Church Find welcomes Birlirr Ngawiyiwu Catholic School in Halls Creek, who are engaged in a revitalisation journey enriching the community, for all their latest times and information including times.
Birlirr Ngawiyiwu (Spirit of God) Catholic School was founded in 1986 by the Sisters of St Joseph, upon request from the Djaru Community. It is an integral part of life for the Kundat Djaru people with an enrolment of about 60 students from Pre-Kindy to Yr 7.
The school is located in the remote East Kimberley region. A unique focus for the school is the two way learning of Jaru and English.
Teachers and Aboriginal Teacher Assistants work collaboratively in providing a holistic education which encompasses the Key Learning Areas of the Curriculum whilst catering for the remoteness of the Yaruman situation and continuing the language, culture and traditions of the Jaru people. Three learning centres include Pre-Kindy and Kindy, Lower/Middle Primary and Upper Primary.
As ESL learners, students benefit from small group and individual tuition aimed at exploring Literacy and Numeracy in focused sessions that take into account different learning styles. Computer technology and hands on activities support students in their learning. Programs to enhance health, personal development and pastoral care are implemented from K to 7. Birlirr Ngawiyiwu strives to empower young people to build lives based upon the Gospel values of love, truth, justice and peace.
Birlirr Ngawiyiwu Catholic School is a Christian church situated in Halls Creek. Churches believe the entirety of the Word of God and worship the Living God, Jesus Christ, in Spirit and truth.
